As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Class A, I maintain and operate wastewater treatment and tributary pumping plants to ensure the safe, effective, efficient, and economical use of processes and equipment, and to comply with pertinent regulations. Also, I read and record readings from meters, gauges, and other recording devices and interpret data to maintain or improve plant operations. Furthermore, I inspect the plant and mechanical equipment for malfunctions, irregularities, and needed repairs. I participate in the installation, overhaul, and major repair of treatment and pumping plant equipment. And lastly, I drain and clean settling tanks, clarifiers, chlorinating chambers, digesters, and aeration tanks.
