• Drafting, negotiating and concluding a wide variety of contracts in relation to both BBC and independent brands in relation to UK and international deals, including the following types of contracts: - Acquisition of rights: e.g. agency contracts, talent contracts and rights clearance contracts. - Licensing out of rights: merchandising licence contracts, agency contracts, book publishing contracts, confidentiality contracts and DVD contracts.• Managing all… Show more • Drafting, negotiating and concluding a wide variety of contracts in relation to both BBC and independent brands in relation to UK and international deals, including the following types of contracts: - Acquisition of rights: e.g. agency contracts, talent contracts and rights clearance contracts. - Licensing out of rights: merchandising licence contracts, agency contracts, book publishing contracts, confidentiality contracts and DVD contracts.• Managing all legal paperwork in relation to various BBC and independent brands• Interpreting contracts through which BBCW acquires its distribution rights e.g. distribution contracts.• Providing advice to the Consumer Products business teams on the terms of contracts.• Advising and supporting BBCW regional offices located in New York, Hong Kong and Sydney on merchandising deals and contracts.• Managing the day-to-day running of the Business Affairs department including: - Ensuring that all systems are up to date and as efficient as possible in order to deliver timely first class support to the Consumer Products business. - Ensuring that all contract templates are up to date, working closing with various corporate departments to incorporate UK and international policy changes. - Implementing systems to ensure that all corporate governance requirements are adhered to in the contracting process e.g. relevant financial, insurance, ethical and brand approvals have has been received. - Managing the relationship with the various business departments across BBCW and the BBC.• Managing a team of two Business Affairs Executives.• Handling rights and legal queries with regards to merchandising.• Supporting the Head of Legal and Business Affairs on licensing and other general business affairs issues.• Co-ordinating the Business Affairs teams involvement in sales of assets in particular in respect of due diligence projects.
