I am a United States Army veteran who served in Vietnam in 1967. My passion is serving veterans with emotional, spiritual, educational, vocational, and mental and health needs. I fulfill my life’s mission by volunteering with Vet to Vet USA, where I serve as the Outreach Officer of Vet to Vet Tennessee, whose purpose is to create an environment allowing veterans to process their issues by providing an environment that is safe from the stigma and shame.I also volunteer as the creator and Chairman of two veteran-focused groups: The Knoxville Regional Veterans Mental Health Council and The East Tennessee Veterans Treatment Court Committee. I am the co-founder of the Knox County Veterans Treatment Court, and a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist at Legacy Peer Support Group. I also serves as as a POST certified trainer of the PTSD Awareness, Intervention, Resolution (PAIR) Law Enforcement Training program. I championed the Veteran Treatment Court Hub Concept, which reaches beyond the metropolitan areas to serve veterans in rural communities where many of them live. I spent much of my professional career as a project director for a major commercial builder, and a member of the Project Management Institute. I am the co-author of “The Daily Huddle: How to Increase Safety, Quality, and Improve Schedules” published in PMI's Virtual Library.I earned his B.A. from Temple University, his Project Manager Master’s Certificate from The George Washington University. I am Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional. I earned his Tennessee Certified Peer Recovery Specialist certification from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
