• Command, train and lead 47 specialist soldiers with between 2 and 22 years of experience both in barracks and on operations. Supported 800 personnel and provided measured operational success.• Efficient - assessed by an outside agency as the most effective in the role compared with six peers when part of a team which was 69% undermanned.• Selected to deputise for immediate superior during a period of significant upheaval as an executive level manager for 133 personnel with varying specialisations and ensured positive progress in output and efficiency for the organisation by an understanding of lean processes to reduce response times to change.• Adopted an innovative approach in Kenya to a situation which had never been encountered by the British Army before. Developed new ways of employing specialist troops and developing new operating procedures by understanding and balancing the needs of both the organisation and the training audience. The solution I developed has subsequently been adopted as best practice. • Performed to a high standard as an expert advisor to a senior military commander in charge of over 1000 personnel, resulting in an exceptional level of success in supporting the overall operation and reduced pressure on other areas of the organisation. • Operated in diverse environments and with many and varied cultures and organisations in locations including Germany, Kenya and the UK. Consistently relied upon to work with relative autonomy in support of the wider needs of the organisation with a requirement to understand the strategic picture, support the overall plan but minimise the impact of my team’s requirements for support.

• Led a successful and experienced training team of 6 delivering initial training to groups of up to 48 recruits. Planned, scheduled and organized training requiring liaison across a diverse range of departments, whilst at all times understanding the higher organisation’s requirements and achieving challenging output targets.• Fostered a culture of excellence resulting in a widely accepted belief across the organization that trainees were better prepared for their upcoming careers and challenges than the baseline requirement.• Acted as a role model and mentor to trainees. Supported their development and maintenance of morale and achieved greater efficiency, increasing retention rate from 65% to consistently above 80% through the delivery of the Systems Approach to Training. • Initiative - The appraisal system and goal setting strategy independently implemented within my team demonstrably increased soldiers’ performance, progress and success rates. This was recognised by my superiors and the process was formally adopted by the wider organisation.

• Co-ordinated the day-to-day command, leadership, management and training of 104 personnel and multiple external specialists in a dynamic, high-tempo, high threat environment. • Regularly deputised for superior for protracted periods involving utilisation of a diverse range of teams in concert with one another to achieve a set outcome of securing and re-opening of a highway in Afghanistan within a strict timeline and with limited resources.• Demonstrated an ability to effectively manage risk, taking into account demanding operational and logistic requirements in a highly hostile environment with limited resources but set operational targets.• Able to dynamically balance advice from numerous subject matter experts with sometimes conflicting views to reach the optimum solution in constantly changing circumstances. • Primary liaison with Afghan National Security Forces; showed a talent for conflict resolution and cultural awareness during joint operations - balancing the needs of force protection, development of a fledgling Afghan Police checkpoint, and the requirement to achieve goals within a defined timeline.

• Iraq, Germany and Falkland Islands - Commanded an operational team of 30 personnel. Provided VVIP security and UK Special Forces support in Baghdad. Managed, trained and tested the Platoon against Key Performance Indicators in a variety of environments and consistently exceeded the baseline levels of performance. Responsible for an account of equipment worth in excess of $2 million and enforcing operating procedures in line with H&S and the organisation’s regulations.

•Intensive year long commissioning course in leadership and management at the prestigious RMAS demanding the highest standards of integrity, moral courage and selfless commitment.
