He’s the PM that is making prototypes of things we could do, has lots of interesting side projects he’s baking to generate ideas, and pushes to make those ideas come to life. Greg and I worked on a large number of features together, starting in 2011 when we rebuilt the onedrive website to be client rendered rather than server rendered. At that time, our design team was not as web saavy, and Greg stepped in with a number of design mocks to get us up and running. It was a really awesome experience to have a PM that understood the strengths limitations of the web, and had a great sense of design. I couldn’t have asked for more. We worked on a photos grid implementation together, where we display a dynamic sized virtualized grid of photos. Greg was always paying exquisite attention to detail of layout, noting off by one pixel issues in weird edge cases that nobody else would notice. When it wasn’t clear on the best approach, Greg always had a really good idea handy. And if the idea had problems he was always receptive to feedback to make them feasible. We worked together on realtime video streaming as well. Greg helped to coordinate between the client and server on implementing our streaming DASH playback solution. I worked with him building our client implementation and he always had good feedback to give as we built and shipped it. He was great on following up on issues when the server would exhibit perf problems or return errors. He drilled in deep on our playback algorithms to find ways to optimize it; more so than our service devs would. I really appreciate his passion in helping drive for a better experience. Greg is a great PM, there is no doubt about it. I think he exhibits characteristics of a great developer as well, if he were to want to go into a more directly contributing roll.
