I founded FreeAgent, an accounting software company, in 2007 and led it from its inception to become a thriving team of 260 dedicated individuals. Our hard work and dedication culminated in the company's listing on AIM and its eventual acquisition by the Natwest Group. My journey with FreeAgent was very rewarding, but after fulfilling my commitments post-acquisition I definitely felt the need to get back into the startup arena!I've always believed in addressing challenges head-on, and the UK property industry, with its many many deficiencies, was an obvious place to focus my energy.I felt strongly that the underlying reason for the lack of transformation in this sector, compared to nearly every other facet of our daily lives, was the lack of open data standards to underpin a truly open ecosystem of products and services. Do rather than dive straight into another business, I set about bootstrapping what was to become the Property Data Trust Framework (PDTF) - now an initiative with collaborators across the industry.I'm honored to now be a part of the Home Buying and Selling group and sit on the Exec Committee of the Open Property Data Association, and as a community we're starting to see real momentum building for adoption of standards and digital protocols across all participants.We've built Moverly, a consumer-facing platform built natively on the new standards, to create some remarkable new, streamlined and engaging journeys for those participants who we should all be focussing on - the buyers and sellers themselves.
