I’ve been taking care of the Backup environment single handedly since 2011 using IBM’s Spectrum Protect (TSM) backup solution. The park has grown from 80 servers to over 600 servers and have a wide range of systems to back up. Linux and Windows but also Databases, mail servers and SAP HANA servers.I currently manage three Backup servers and a tape library. We have replication between the servers and copy to tape. I am hoping for an upgrade to come soon so that I can leverage new features offered by Spectrum Protect such as better compression, container-pools, backups to cloud-containers, etc.I have written a few scripts to simplify some of the daily tasks and maintenance cycle.

I am am part of a team of Linux Engineers, we manage a Linux park of 400+ Servers through it’s entire life cycle, from provisioning to decommissioning. We make sure the servers are patched and run smoothly.The following are some of the projects we are currently working on:- Migrating from SLES to RHEL.- We installed Satellite to manage our patches, provision our systems and keep an eye on security- Moved away from Puppet and embraced Ansible.- OpenShift POC in our lab environment.

I managed the mail of the notaries for seven years. We hosted 10K mailboxes on a Linux server running Zimbra. Following a change in vision, the environment has been migrated to O365 and the windows team.

Developing in C# for SharePoint. I was pushed into the position when my existing one was made redundant. It had nothing to do with my core competences and was the reason I had to search elsewhere.

Multifunction job that goes from giving support for various applications such as Weblogic, Apache, ..., to monitoring a multi OS based environment and acting on the problems that might come up.Amongst other things, I setup a complete monitoring of the Developement environment using nagios and wrote modules to monitor the health of applications like weblogic. This drastically reduced the number of incidents in the environment.

I have worked on implementing a complete cross platform Online Backup System 'from the ground up' for a client.This included: - The installation and management of remote Linux servers. - The replication of Data to two other sites as well as MySQL db replications - The setup of Mail , DNS, FTP and Web Servers to support the Online backups- The documentation of the whole process.

As a Linux administrator, I was asked to review the current state of the servers and improve on the current set up.Some of the tasks I performed where:- Hardware and OS recommendations- Security review- Creation of a server 'template' that would add security and stability- recompilation of kernels- monitoring of hardware, services and networks as well as uptime statistics, traffic, ...- Creation of DNS servers- Backup procedures and implementation- Apache security restrictions- Documentation- ...

As a system engineer part of a team of five, we managed a large park of ~100 mission critical HP-UX Servers. My job was the same as in GCC.I left when the datacenter in Prague started migrating our servers.

System engineer for a cross platform environment of ~100 high end servers running on HP-UX, Linux and Windows.My main tasks consisted of system administration, capacity planning and management, security, systems and network troubleshooting as well as being on call 24x7 for all matters concerning the GCC IT department.I helped in migrations and moves, I also worked in remodelling the whole backup system.I was relocated to DHL Aviation after the GCC IT department was moved to Prague.

System engineer for a growing IT service company. My job consisted of managing the servers, Telecom and workstations as well as solving second line user problems.The server park was populated with Windows and Sun servers. The workstations where Silicon Graphics (sgi) workstations.Part of my job was also to work with the IT department in the US to solve global problems.I left the company when it shrunk to a size where my level of experience and qualifications did not match the diminishing needs of the company.

My work consisted of Managing the IT infrastructure of ~4 servers and ~100 workstations as well as offering second line support.I was also asked to help plan the migration of an old IT infrastructure based on Vines and Coax to a more modern and best suited solution.I left the company when my interim contract ended.

As part of a team of four, we managed a park of 80 plus servers and ~500 workstations.My main tasks where the administration of the servers but also the creation of new servers, the management of exchange and msSQL servers, rolling out of new software to the servers and workstations and the daily troubleshooting of second line calls. I also got familiar with Linux and I implemented a few servers during that time.I also travelled to set up servers in other parts of Belgium and in Germany.I left the company to reorientate my career towards Unix.

Sole Systems and Network Administrator in an environment of a couple of Servers and 50 PCs. My work consisted in managing the entire IT department and network as well as giving day to day support to the users.I also migrated the Servers from Novel 3.11 to NT 3.51 and the workstations to windows for workgroups. The whole network was also moved from Token Ring to UTP.I also travelled to New York to set up a new office from the ground up.I left the company to move to Belgium.
