In my position as CTO at LINKS my challenges include building - with the help of LINKS researchers - the vision and the research roadmap of our Foundation, as well as strengthening our network of strategic partnerships and alliances. Topics I've been observing, studying and sharing with others throughout all my professional life include emerging technologies and their trends, the broad impact of Innovation on how we live, work, and share our experiences with the people around us, up to the latest, disruptive evolution of governance, management and economic models. Being it visible or not, (digital) technology is everywhere around us, providing kind of a pervasive, disappearing support to our everyday life.And I'm old enough to have seen it (almost) all, from the Italian Internet first steps to the exponential decentralization revolution we are witnessing these days, just a sneak peek of how the world will be in the (very near) future.At times where tech knows you better than you know yourself, understanding some of it may help: this is where we get our mission from, bringing as many people as possible onboard of the digital innovation wagon.Disclaimer: nothing of what I do would be possible without the invaluable help and support of more than 150 brilliant minds I am lucky enough to work with every day. I ran into the IOTA project in late Spring 2017. It caught my attention for the way it was standing out in the fast growing crowd of DLT projects and architectures. The fascinating design of the Tangle and its operating principles, the way it was born and still is carried out by the founding team and the great developers' community, all contributed to my desire to better understand its basics. Working with three master's students of Politecnico di Torino we had the opportunity to see the project quickly unfold, from the first public announcements to the dissemination boost started September 2017, which was followed by many expressions of interest and support coming from small and large companies. Our students caught up quite fast, and we were able to join the Data Marketplace pilot project in December 2017. I definitely became a strong supporter of IOTA, even if I am not directly involved in any development or design activities. I am lucky enough to work for a company where we help young graduates start their professional career. I pave the way for them to build up their muscles before taking off for the most amazing and challenging trips technology can offer today. And I have to say that DLT, IOTA and the Tangle are among the most popular destinations.

AICA is the Italian Association for Informatics and Automated Calculus, the first and most important association of ICT (Information & Communication Technology) experts and professionals.A non-for-profit association founded in 1961, AICA's mission is promoting the knowledge on ICT in all its scientific, application-related, economic, and social aspects.For the past 50 years IT professionals, teachers, students, public and private authorities have been meeting in AICA to exchange views about competences, work, and perspectives of the Italian society. Since its foundation, AICA supported - with its activities - the development of ICT in Italy. AICA’s initiatives, its international entrenchment, and its independence from partisan interests gave AICA a recognized role as:- the meeting point for the main ICT players: Universities, Research Centres, Business Operators, and Authorities- the most open place for debates on important subjects of digital society: from professional and employment perspectives to the efficiency of services for citizens, to the diffusion of ICT knowledge to wider population groups;- the benchmark for definition, appreciation, and diffusion of eSkills- the accredited Agency for European certifications for users and professionals computer knowledge and competences- a lab for educational programs innovation and computer skills qualification in the public sector. AICA cooperates with several Italian Authorities and Organisations, and it received many important rewards from governmental Institutions and Administrations. Moreover, since its foundation, AICA positioned itself in an international context with the aim of bringing to Italy the worldwide most advanced experiences in ICT.

As Deputy Director for Strategic Programs I am in charge of organizing activities related to three major application domains for ICT: Smart Cities, Smart Energy and e-Health. Common issues for all of them include solutions for the involvement of communities using mobile devices and social networks, the collection and processing of large amount of (open/linked) data, real time monitoring, data visualization, efficiency improvement (i.e. energy, processes, services).I am building a wide network of professionals also outside of the ICT community: Policy/decision makers, PA, industry managers (energy, transportation, health care etc), new media. In a word, just getting ready to ride the smart wave!
