About Edouard Bissen
Highly motivated mechanical engineer with international experience, always looking for exciting challenges and opportunities to learn, discover and improve.Hard-working, passionate, curious, resourceful, team-player and fully dedicated to each project until completion.I am currently a junio aero at Haas F1 Team, which means that I work on the development of the aerodynamics, taking responsibility in the design and constant performance improvement of a specific area of the car, using CAD and CFD tools, as well as leading high-level wind tunnel tests and analysing track data to understand the correlation between all those different environments. Before that, I was a PhD student at the CEA with special scholarship from the CNRS. Working on the safety of the future nuclear reactors, especially developing a completely new methodology from scratch, is a mind-broadening experience, allowing me to manage my own project over 3 years from A to Z.After a bachelor on mechanical and civil engineering, my Master degree focused on aeronautics and fluid mechanics. I spent the first year in Tokyo and the second working on my thesis at the Von Karman Institute, a world-leader in the field. This experience is priceless: working with world-level experts on the design and management of my own experimental campaign in a wind tunnel, achieving some world first results on the way!Beside my work, I enjoy keeping myself busy with exciting challenges. After fencing on national and international levels, I decided to take on a new challenge as a referee, having to handle the pressure of making crucial, possibly life-changing decisions in the blink of an eye, asserting authority while staying calm in the most difficult moments. Being a referee is a life lesson at all time. I speak Chinese fluently, having started to study the language at the age of 8. I have also traveled around the country, worked as intern in several companies in China and even been selected to represent Belgium at a TV-broadcast Chinese language television. Discovering Chinese culture is mind-broadening and helps approaching daily challenges from a different perspective.
