In this role I was responsible for client softare (Web-based user interface and KVM and VM clients written using: Java Swing, MFC/ActiveX and GTX/Linux). Specific projects:* Dell 11th generation monolithic server management (iDRAC): Large effort to develop browser based management interface and KVM and Virtual Media clients. My responsibilities started with gathering requirements from client, designing the software and coordinating development efforts. The group I currently manage was created to address the requirements of this project. I interviewed and hired contractors and permanent employees and provided mentoring and other technical support. I hosted a meeting with my customer contact to discuss technical issues and progress updates. I was also involved in the overall project management meetings with the customers. This project has been successfully completed and is about to ship. The software my group created for this project are now being adopted for other customers.* IBM server management solution: update to the Avocent KVM and VM offerings for IBM's monolithic and blade servers. I was responsible for helping to gathering and make sense of customer requirements and in helping the customer to define what they actually wanted from us. I was also responsible for redesigning our VM software solution such that it could to embedded into the customers existing solution such that it was compatible with their legacy VM solution.* Nuova/Cisco: This was another server management solution in which I responsible for client software development. In this case we were delivering Java KVM and VM clients and a VM C++ API. I was in a leadership role in communicating with the customer regarding their requirements and in helping them to understand how our client solutions could be integrated into their product.
Lead Software Engineer
Architect responsible for the design of a web based appliance management applications. The goal of the design was to create a robust and extensible architecture that was also portable to various embedded platforms. The design needed to be flexible enough to accommodate the needs of our various customers such that our management solutions could seamlessly integrated into different existing web applications. Key Technologies: Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), embedded web serverLead Software Engineer developing a web based state of the art remote server management product that was delivered to a major server component manufacturer. I was responsible for completing the implementation and defining and implementing new features. The project was assigned to me after many unresolved issued and schedule slip had accumulated. Through intelligent design changes and an intense development effort I was able to get the project under control and deliver the solution to the customer.

developing a state of the art client server implementation of a network performance manager. The multi-threaded Java server provides a simple RMI interface to SNMP based network element performance data, including the ability to schedule polling of the element statistics over time. The actual statistical parameter set definitions is maintained externally to the server. This allows adding new or modifying existing statistical sets without recompiling the server. The Swing based client makes extensive use of the MVC architecture for presenting the data in multiple views, including the use of KL Group's JCChart. Java printing support is also provided for JTable and JCChart views. The client delegates the server communication to two server proxy classes. One for the RMI server and another for a legacy socket based system that talks to TL1 network elements. The proxies will allow for the phase II server, which will combine SNMP and TL1 functionality, to be integrated into the client with minor modifications to the client code.Because I Network; This is a part-time venture to create a shopping agent website for printers and printer supplies. The site was developed using Java Server Pages (JSP) and Java Servlets talking to a MySQL database running on a Linux/Apache platform. The MVC architecture was used to separate the presentation logic (JSP) from the business rules (Servlets). To gather the printer quotes from the various online vendors, web agents were created to retrieve and extract the quotes from the vendor's web sites. Using object oriented design techniques, agent functionality was generalized to the point of being able to use a single agent for all vendors. The agent was specialized through the use of an XML-like vendor specific configuration file.

for a development project to automate the 3D engineering analysis of turbine airfoils. This was a large project to integrate many legacy system into one automated and user-friendly process. This aggressive project resulted in the design of a reusable and scalable component based architecture for finite element model manipulations. The resulting architecture and software libraries have been extensively used for other efforts requiring these capabilities. The final product reduced 2D analysis cycle time from about two weeks to just less than one hour. The corresponding 3D process cycle time was reduced from three months to about one week. The 3D product includes sophisticated geometric and finite element Modeling techniques. The system has been used in support of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF/JAST) program.Lead Architect/Developer for a sophisticated engineering analysis tool used to map finite element thermal results to a dissimilar structural model. This project employs a 2-tiered architecture with a C++ RPC server and a standard finite element pre-processor (Patran) as the front end. Development time for this project was significantly reduced through the use of the previously developed finite element component based framework.

Successfully coordinated the proposal development from abstract through to final award and continued to successfully manage the program for one year after award. Design System Development/Principle Investigator tasked with maintenance/enhancement of an engineering design system for turbine airfoils. This job required a proactive and self-motivated person to seek out design system issues and coordinate/implement corrective actions to assure the smooth flow of engineering tasks.
