Wedding And Events Coordinator
Cheerleading Coach
Since I was 17, I have assisted in coaching a local cheerleading team, with athletes aged between 4-15. I assisted the head coach in teaching the sport to younger athletes on a voluntary basis. In February 2018 I decided to take my passions further and complete a coaching qualification for level 1 and 2. I am now a fully qualified cheerleading coach, and work within a team of 2 other coaches to lead and teach two cheer teams of children aged 4-12. This opportunity has allowed me to greatly develop my organisation and leadership skills. Running our own team comes with challenges, but the coaches work together to solve any problems. My role is to work alongside the other coaches in leading the team, planning the routine, working to strict timeframes to ensure the team reaches their best ability. This role is very rewarding to see their progress, but also to be a positive role model for the children. More recently, during lockdown due to COVID-19, we were determined to keep going with our teaching in some capacity. From March through to September we conducted weekly 'Zoom' sessions for our teams to ensure they could keep training and have some form of normality! Through this role, I have also recently completed certifications including; SportScotland Covid Officer, Prevent Covid-19, An Introduction to Infection Prevention Control, and An Introduction to GDPR training.
Brand Representative
Wedding Placement
On a weekly basis I assist the Wedding Coordinator with tasks required during the wedding planning process. Tasks include admin, creating stationary for weddings (table plans and menus), assisting with preparations on wedding day (venue set up and turnover) and more.Alongside this, the wedding coordinator allows me to attend her meetings with clients to sit in and learn the process.
Programming Booking Customer Experience Risk Logistics And Contingency Planning Manager
As my final year of my Events Management degree at RGU, myself and my team planned an interactive gameshow evening in aid of Dates-N-Mates Aberdeen. Our event was a creative spin on the Price is Right gameshow, involving many different mini games, activities, and prizes to be won! As the team member in charge of logistics, programming and volunteer management this was very busy behind the scenes! I took leadership in organising volunteers to be ready with the next round and giving the volunteers the cue to go on stage. Additionally, I coordinated the host script and briefed the host with any changes throughout the night. I used my problem solving skills by thinking of some team games on the spot to get our event back on running order and keep our attendees engaged and entertained. We raised a total of £1803.85 for our charity, Dates-N-Mates Aberdeen. My main responsibilities included:•Developing the Event Experience and Concept•Delivery of Event Theme•Production of Event Programme and Running Order•Developing design and experience of Digital Event Contingency Plan•Main point of contact for charity•Conducting a full and thorough risk assessment and event safety plan•Lead on devising a COVID-19 contingency plan for a virtual event•Sourcing and coordinating suppliers - main point of contact for suppliers•Sourcing and managing volunteers and staffing, taking a leadership role and delegating tasks effectively.
Customer Experience And Compliance Manager
As part of my third year at university, we hosted the first digital form of the coveted Aberdeen Student Festival! My main roles included devising elements of the event concept, the event programme, conducting a thorough risk assessment, event safety plan, devising in depth contingency and logistics plans. Our team managed to raise £674 on the night of our event for our two charities: MISS and NSPCC. This is an achievement I am particularly proud of, raising this amount of funds during a small virtual event as it is a lot harder to raise money at a virtual event versus a physical event! This is an experience I am very proud of as we successfully executed a virtual event during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we had to pivot our skills learned to an online environment.
