Ed Simcox leads solution strategy and development for Mayo Clinic's Platform initiative. He brings a diverse set of healthcare IT and innovation leadership experience.Previously, Ed was the chief strategy officer at LifeOmic, a precision health and wellness company focused on improving research and clinical healthcare through a novel data platform and mobile applications that combine genomic, research and clinical data to improve health outcomes. Prior to LifeOmic, Ed served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the largest civilian government agency in the world. Reporting to the HHS cabinet secretary, he led efforts across HHS to effectively leverage data, technology, innovation, and policy to improve the lives of the American people and the performance of the Department’s 29 agencies and offices. He also represented HHS to the United States health-tech startup community through HHS Startup Day events in cooperation with health tech incubators and accelerators across the nation. While CTO, he also served as Acting Chief Information Officer at HHS, where he oversaw the Department’s $5 Billion IT budget and was responsible for IT modernization efforts, acquisitions, IT operations, and cybersecurity.
