I'm a retired software CEO who was not meant for retirement. I've been involved with producing shooting events since 1996. My childhood interest in firearms was rekindled after a series of home break-ins. That prompted me to purchase a semi-auto handgun and take a training course. Shortly afterwards I discovered Cowboy Action Shooting, both as a participant, and as a volunteer helping to produce the yearly regional matches. In 2011 I helped found a new firearms organization called Armed Defense Training Association (ADTA). Its mission is "to help people build practical self-defense skills". My primary role has been as marketing director, and I have served as its president. You can visit ADTA at ArmedDefense.org. ADTA currently produces 60+ training events per year. As marketing director I've been involved in producing over 500 events. I'm fortunate to be able to draw on many years of experience as a project manager in my computer career. The ADTA production process includes outlining the curriculum, setting schedules, lining up instructors and range safety officers, writing event descriptions on the website, updating the Meetup and Facebook pages, running the Facebook advertising program, and managing the registration and payment process. My motivation for doing this is both political and economic. Politically I'm a "Constitutional Originalist" who believes the Second Amendment is there to provide a defense against government tyranny, which I think may be closer than we think.
