Local news:I believe individuals are best served with as much information as possible about what is happening in their communities. As such, I jointly created a local political news website called The Political Medway which scrutinised local council activities and covered local politics news.In 2021, I created Local Authority, a newsletter for Medway as an attempt to create a sustainable outlet for local news outside of traditional media platforms. Local Authority now has thousands of readers, and is on its way to financial sustainability.Local Authority covers news, politics, culture, and the weirder side of Medway. We believe there has to be a better way of doing local news than the ad-infested race to the bottom clickbait journalism that proliferates so many outlets.In 2023, we began a programme of live events, in an effort to facilitate local people having a way of directly asking questions of elected representatives, public officials, and other relevant figures.Social media and moderation:I have 16 years experience of social media management, moderation, and digital marketing. In this time I have worked in operational roles within a large moderation company (Chat Moderators) before starting a social media agency in 2011 called Tea Social.I have a specific focus on moderation of user generated content, which has led to me delivering large projects for global companies. My projects are primarily based around internet safety, brand protection, and improving the reputation of companies and organisations online.Companies I have worked with include the BBC, Golin, Transport for London, GlaxoSmithKline, ITV, Diageo, Orange, Next, Kimberley-Clark, Bauer, Them, and Redbubble.Music:For several years, I worked to bring live music events to new audiences, and increase access to music development. This included setting up the Music Project Space, an affordable practice and music education space, and curating live music events in unique spaces, such as coffee shops and ships.
