Eduard's visionary commitment to transforming education led him to establish the University for International Cooperation in 1994 in Costa Rica, where he currently serves as the Rector and President. UCI has earned global recognition for its pioneering transdisciplinary programs. It embraced online education as early as 1996, challenging prevailing skepticism regarding the viability of graduate-level online offerings.Eduard stands as a prominent global advocate for regenerative development. His forward-thinking approach seeks innovative solutions to contemporary challenges through collaborative transdisciplinary efforts. This holistic approach seamlessly integrates economic, societal, cultural, environmental, political, and spiritual dimensions, improving global conditions and enhancing the well-being of all life forms. In July 2018, he spearheaded the Regenerate Costa Rica initiative (https://en.costaricaregenerativa.org/), a bioregional endeavor with support from over 40 international and national partners. He pioneered in launching of formal educational programs focused on regeneration. He has forged partnerships with prominent global entities, including Capital Institute, Doughnut Economics Action Lab, and others.Eduard's professional journey spans more than four decades on five continents, earning him international recognition as a trailblazing leader. His diverse portfolio includes areas such as higher education, global and climate change, nature conservation, and nature-based solutions, integrating business and biodiversity, public-private partnerships, and the burgeoning field of regenerative tourism. His expertise extends to eco and agrotourism, rural community development, local sustainable development initiatives, functional landscapes, and community-based poverty alleviation efforts, among others.Grounded in spirituality, profound consciousness, and empathy as potent drivers of human behavioral change, Eduard has worked closely with the Earth Charter. Currently, he is on the board of trustees of the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), advisor to The Carbon Underground and Soil In Formation, the Global Council of the Wellbeing Economy Alliance – WEAll, and the technical advisory board of the Ecosystem Restoration Standard (ERS).Eduard has been adorned with numerous distinctions and honors. He was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador to the La Palma Biosphere Reserve in Spain and received a prestigious Medal from the National Congress of Argentina.
