With 15 years of experience coordinating and participating in automation and robotics projects across various sectors, I have been working as a professor at the Federal Institute Catarinense since 2013. In this role, I dedicate 60% of my time to teaching courses in Mechatronics Engineering and Computer Science, 20% to extension projects, and the remaining 20% to research activities. Currently, I serve as the co-PI of the IMEC - Inova Mechatronics research group, overseeing multiple projects and guiding undergraduate scholarship holders. Our research efforts primarily focus on developing and deploying automation and monitoring equipment, particularly in agricultural and industrial applications. As a graduate student, I have extensively contributed to heavy industrial automation projects, developing processes and equipment, including robots, sensors and machine vision systems. When I started working as a professor in an institution with a strong history and research infrastructure in agriculture, I developed a strong affinity for the field and adapted my expertise accordingly. Since then, my expertise has extended to agricultural automation, where I have designed instrumentation systems, monitoring devices, and control systems for irrigation. Additionally, I have a pending patent application for an indoor cultivation system resulting from a research project. Furthermore, in August 2023, I began my role as a visiting researcher at Auburn University, at the Department of Biosystems Engineering.
