Being born and raised in the Amazon and seeing its deforestation first handed push me toward the studies of sustainable management of natural resources. While my love for technology led me to GIS and programming. I moved to southern Brazil to attend the Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense, where I pursued a B.S. in environmental engineering. During my final undergraduate project, I worked as an intern in a cassiterite mining company, analyzing water bodies in recovering degraded areas. I first went to the U.S. to study English, attending the University of Florida’s English Language Institute. During the course of the English program, I had the opportunity to get to know more about UF’s work in the Amazon and realized that this would be professionally and personally fulfilling. This led me to pursue a Master of Science degree in Forest Resources and Conservation with a certificate in Tropical Conservation and Development, developing an original model for estimating Brazil nut fruit productivity in secondary forest. During the Master's program, I developed a skillset in forestry, facilitation skills (which helped to engage with the local community), data management, data analysis, programming (Python, R, and JavaScript), and geospatial analysis (GIS and remote sensing).Recently I have engaged in data management and found a love for the field of data analysis. I am currently learning more about SQL and Tableau.
