Consultant Urogynaecologist and Obstetrician with a demonstrated history of working in Women's Health. Currently working in Gynaecology and Urogynaecology, as senior academic in urogynaecology in the Medizinische Universität Innsbruck, Tirol. Our academic team is currently working on the understanding of skeletal and smooth muscle regeneration within the context of pelvic floor dysfunction. Mr E Cortes completed his Sub-specialist training in Urogynaecology at King's College Hospital and Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital (King's Health Partners) in 2013. Skilled in Clinical Research in Urogynaecology obtained his MD (res) with University College London and has several International and National publications in the field.In previous roles as Head of Urogynaecology since April 2015, Mr. E Cortes developed the Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust urogynaecology unit incorporating new diagnostic tests and treatments providing a safe and holistic environment to care for patients with urogynaecological problems. As the lead of a wondeful team he achieved BSUG accreditation in August 2021. He has proven record of excellence in both the clinical and management fields as Lead for Gynaecology and Head of Urogynaecology at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (London) between April 2015 and Dec 2021. His clinical expertise covers female urinary incontinence and vaginal reconstructive surgery for vaginal prolapse and after vaginal delivery/obstetric injury. He is experienced in advanced laparoscopic surgery and its application in Urogyanecology.He is a member of the International Urogynaecology Association (IUGA) were he served as chair of the Grants sub-comittee for 6 years until Dec 2021 within the R&D comittee, Member of the International Continence Society (ICS), British Society of Urogynaecologists (BSUG) and was awarded FRCOG in 2022 for his contribution to Women's health in the field of urogynaecology.
