Authored an industry leading push notifications service which gave the company a significant competitive advantage in delivering news. Total speed improved by 10X, and time to first notification lowered from minutes to sub-1 second. This new system also cost 6-figures/year less to run.Improved cache hit ratios by 300% by revisiting our CDN strategy, reducing the number of necessary EC2 instances. Accomplished this by defining a tagging scheme for requests across all microservices and purging the cache dynamically based on the tags.Authored several services using Elixir in a transition to a microservices architecture. This includes services with new functionality, as well as extracting existing functionality into new services (and creating shims to support old clients).
