• Process Gas Compressor Start Up Evaluation – Constructed Process Gas Compressor system simulation in Aspen Plus to evaluate and verify if the existing anti-surge valves, compressor curves, and compressor ancillary equipment can handle the startup conditions at minimum speed and natural gas composition, specifically methane and nitrogen. Drafted a report that displayed the compressor and valve results of each gas.• CO Methanator Trip Set Point Optimization - Developed Hydrogen Purification Unit and CO Methanator simulation in Aspen Plus to determine if the temperature trip point of the inlet of the hydrogen drum can be increased. Analyzed ethylene concentration as it reacts through the CO Methanator. Gathered data to formulate trends. Conducted research with process engineer about CO methanation of ethylene.• Add Fuel Gas Sweep to Flare Header- Led project of 5 engineers in adding sweep to flare header to prevent potential air ingress to flare. Communicated with team about possible design options. Collaborated with instrumentation to size restriction orifice for the system. Coordinated with third party engineering company to create a design package for this addition. • Cooling Tower Chemical Changes - Communicated with a vendor to coordinate a chemical change that reduces chemical expenses by $100k. Designed the layout of new chemicals, tank, and pumps. Collaborated with operations manager and 4 engineers to complete this project and management of change (MOC). • Raw Water Flow Optimization - Created a hydraulics simulation in Aspen Plus to evaluate the need to increase piping size. Reviewed potential problems and the operational impact of the change. Resulted in the reduction of cost and the usage of rental water sources to make up for the needed demand.
