After completing my studies on Environmental Engineering, I started my career as a scientific researcher at IST/IN+ where I worked on Portuguese and European projects on waste management, mainly focusing on the development of integrated management systems for specific waste flows, such as waste electrical and electronic equipments, end of life vehicles and used tires. I was also involved in research projects to assess the environmental performance of products and developed a Master thesis on the integration of environmental issues in the design and development of electrical and electronic products.Since 2008 I have been enrolled in the MIT-Portugal Program as a PhD researcher focusing on the systemic perspectives of the management of technologies for end of life processing and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipments. The research work was developed in partnership between IST/IN+ and 3 Drivers.I am an associate partner of 3 Drivers where I am responsible for projects of research, development and application of knowledge for producer responsibility organizations that manage specific end of life products in Portugal according with the extended producer responsibility principle.
