For the past 40 years, I have been producing and directing films and videos. I have worked the dramatic, commercial, and music genres, excelling in documentary filmmaking. I hold a B.A. in History, and a M.S. in Film Production, both from the Boston University. I began my career in WGBH-Boston, for the American Playhouse series Concealed Enemies, which won an Emmy for best drama series. I later produced WGBH-Boston’s La Plaza. I began my career in WGBH-Boston, for the American Playhouse series Concealed Enemies, which won an Emmy for best drama series. I later produced WGBH-Boston’s La Plaza. For this series, I was awarded three Emmy Awards and three Emmy nominations. In 1989, I returned to Puerto Rico to work as a freelance filmmaker. I directed and produced projects for the Puerto Rico Corporation for Public Broadcasting (WIPR-TV). In 2003 I was awarded an Emmy for the documentary Vieques en el Espejo de Panama, in 2007 and 2008 for Lexikon a documentary series and in 2006 an Emmy nomination for the documentary Viajes estudiantiles OAJ.My most recent production for WIPR-TV was the series Puerto Rican Voices, a coproduction of WIPR-TV and Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College, CUNY. The bilingual (English and Spanish) documentary TV series highlights the contributions of Puerto Ricans across the United States. My recent feature length documentary Venezuela: The Struggle Continues, filmed shortly after the death of Hugo Chávez in March 2013, explores the advances and shortcomings of the Bolivarian Revolution. From 2016 to 2019 I taught video film editing, lighting and photography at the film workshops Talleres de Cine Jacobo Morales. In 2017 I edited and colored the feature film Al final del eclipse, by Academy Award nominated Director Jacobo Morales. After hurricane Maria I produced over 18 short videos dealing with relief efforts, climate change and just transition for Hispanic Federation, Greenpeace, Just Transition Alliance, Environmental Justice Health Alliance, Los Jardines Institute and Climate Justice Alliance.
