I wrote dozens of stories about renewable energy, electric vehicles, and the climate crisis.

I wrote stories about sustainability for the Climate Fwd: newsletter and for the New York Times Climate Desk.

In a series of stories published in The Guardian, my team revealed how the Obama administration gave billions of dollars in financing to fossil fuel projects in developing nations. The series won an award from the Society of Environmental Journalists in 2017. I also traveled to Bangladesh to report a story that was published in Slate about how increasing salinity is hindering agricultural production in the Ganges delta.

During this three-month internship, I wrote more than a dozen stories about astrophysics, paleontology, neuroscience, evolution and microbiology for the Spanish-language edition of Scientific American's news website.

From the Big Bang Theory to the inner workings of climate as well as astrophysics, neuroscience and evolution, I learned about topics that have always fascinated me in order to write about them with authority. With the coaching of award-winning science journalists, I honed my long-form writing skills and wrote a 9,000-word thesis about how clouds are changing due to climate change. I took classes in about climate change, ethnobotany and convervation biology.

I covered the Latin American debt markets, with a special focus on international bond issuances in the U.S., Europe, Switzerland, Japan and Asia. I interviewed rating agency analysts, high ranking government officials and bankers, which provided me with insight into how the investment community is fueling growth in emerging markets.

Ecuador - I reported on President Rafael Correa’s bitter spat with local media and his decision to grant asylum to WikiLeaks’ founder Julian Assange. I covered his 2013 re-election victory with in-depth stories about the economy and an interview with Correa. I also wrote extensively about the legal battle between Chevron and Ecuadorean plaintiffs over a $19 billion ruling against the US-based oil company for polluting the Amazon, about Correa's drive to silence media critics, and about how the country’s efforts to attract more oil and mining investment could threaten the environment. During several stints in Colombia I covered the peace talks between the government and the FARC rebels that could put an end to 50 years of war. While in Bogota I wrote about coal, oil and coffee production.Argentina- I covered mainly agricultural production and exports, as well as general news and company results. I wrote extensively on Argentina’s dependency on imports of liquefied natural gas, strikes in the farming sector and macroeconomic indicators, which provided me with the skills needed to write cross-asset stories about economic growth, inflation and fiscal balance.Bolivia - I wrote spot news, analysis and features about the controversial reforms introduced by leftist President Evo Morales to shift power from a mixed-race elite to the country’s majority Indian population. Main issues covered include: Natural gas production, state takeover of energy, mining and telecommunications companies and cocaine trafficking. I worked for long spells in Peru and Chile, where I expanded my knowledge of how vital commodities are for South American economies, and learnt about the global markets for copper, gold and steel.

Researched and wrote in-depth finance and commerce reports about Central American countries. The Country Commerce Reports analysed the state of the economy including foreign investment, macroeconomic policies and taxes. The Country Finance Reports covered the banking system, the stock exchange, the insurance market and debt.

Main tasks included editing stories about current events in Central America for the English edition of the magazine, coordinating a team of five correspondents filing news stories from all over Central America, and writing analytical articles.
