Hardware EngineerHoneywell Dec 2013 - Apr 2016Charlotte, North Carolina, UsA member of the “Test and Verification” team. Tasked with evaluating legacy and state of the art Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) products for FCC and IC compliance. The team’s secondary functions are to test new products against Honeywell’s internal compliance tests and investigate competitor products.ACS products consists of security and connected home products. These include (but are not limited to) home alarm panels, perimeter transmitters, smoke alarms, passive infrared and glass break sensors. These devices operate at ULF, WIFI, and Zigbee frequencies. This task involves intimate knowledge of circuitry theory and RF principles, clear communication skills with the Engineering and Marketing department, ability to interpret the latest FCC and IC compliance rules, and multitasking of time sensitive projects.Site operation + Operating and maintaining Honeywell’s 3 Meter Outside Area Test Site (OATS), and various Anechoic Rooms. Testing+ Performing tests for FCC and IC compliance, adhering to FCC Part 15 and ANSI C63.2010 rules.+ Performing various tests for internal checklists. Examples include, but not limited to range performance, antenna plots, ESD, and troubleshooting issues with products prior to FCC and IC submissions.+ Investigating competitor products.Communication+ Providing feedback on a daily basis to design engineers, managers and consultants on testing issues.+ Training of technicians in testing, and data presentation for use in FCC and IC submissions.+ Creation of testing procedure and record templates.+ Record keeping of test documentation.Certification/Awards+ January 2016: Given BRAVO Award on the successful completion of the Lyric-AIO FCC / IC certification.+ July 2014: Passed Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, Designed for Six Sigma (DFSS). -
Rf EngineerAmerican Technical Ceramics Sep 2010 - Mar 2013UsA member of the RF Engineering Lab. Charged with development of various passive electronic components, competitor product investigation, and development of future products for ATC and AVX. In this role I interacted with the rest of the team consisting of veteran RF/Microwave Engineers, talented RF Technicians, and an experienced sales staff. My other responsibilities at the time was interfacing with customer inquiries and investigating competitor products.Product Development+ Helped in development, design and characterization of the Ultra Broadband Capacitors (UBC) product line. The UBC has a small form factor (0603, 0402, and 0201), and designed to be used from the kHz to 40 GHz. Product is now in production.+ Helped in development, design and characterization of the Ultra Broadband Inductors (UBL) product line. The UBL is a conical shaped inductor for use from the kilohertz range to 40 GHz. Product is now in production.+ Characterized and developed ATC's 800 series line of Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLC).Engineering Support+ Assisted sales staff with customer requests, and inquiries.+ Competitor product analysis and comparison.Website: https://rfs.kyocera-avx.com (Former website: www.atceramics.com)ATC/AVX provides component and custom integrated packaging solutions for RF, Microwave and Telecommunications including single layer and multilayer capacitors, assemblies, voltage dividers, resistors, power terminations, resistive products, attenuators, multilayer chip and wire wound inductors. -
Emc TechnicianRetlif Testing Laboratories Sep 2009 - Dec 2009Ronkonkoma, New York, UsAssisted in Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) tests with the rest of the Technician team.Required tasks involved interfacing with customers, and keeping up to date records of experiment results.Responsibilities+ ESD Testing (D0-160).+ Radiated Immunity Testing (IEC 61000-4-3).+ Operation and Maintenance of 3 Meter Outside Area Test Site (OATS).Special Projects+ Assisted in constructing an anechoic room for a client that would use it in commercial testing (long term project for the MTA). Applied material that blocked up to 40 GHz. -
Rf Electro-TechnologistAmerican Technical Ceramics May 2007 - Jul 2009UsElevated to Electro-Technologist due to my increase in responsibilities, and growing knowledge in Engineering. At that time I started pursuing my Master’s Degree at Brooklyn Polytech.Product Development+ Created Electrical and Thermal computer simulation the next line of surface and flange mounted attenuators for ATC. Reached computer model stage.+ Design of 25 Ohm Surface Mount Resistor for Northrop Grumman. Took part in every part of development. Starting with theoretical calculations, building computer models, to making prototypes for characterization and study, after successful prototypes were developed they were put in production for the customer. The client was satisfied and bought the parts.+ Ultra Broadband Inductor (UBL) Development. Assisted two senior RF Microwave Engineers in the development of UBL's. It started with creating handmade prototypes of proposed circuits, requiring dexterity. RF Parameters (S-parameters) were then measured. After successful tests, Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings of a proposed model were made.+ Created a 1dB attenuator for Shakespeare Electronics group that performed beyond their specifications up to 4 GHz. This product went through successful manufacture and production, and then sold to the client to their satisfaction.Responsibilities+ Passing of assignments given during RF Technician phase to coworkers. Gave instructions to new technicians to allow more time for upcoming projects.+ Built two proprietary resistor and termination test setups. Had role of troubleshooter for the devices. -
Rf TechnicianAmerican Technical Ceramics May 2004 - May 2007UsStarted working at ATC as an RF Technician. Promoted to RF Technologist on May 2007.Projects Completed+ 150W Termination and Resistor Life Test setups. Built six resistor and termination test setups. Other responsibilities were troubleshooting, and training of employees in the use of the setups.+ Used LabVIEW (a high level programming language created by National Instruments) to create a stand-alone program to measure Attenuator parameters (actual attenuation, individual resistances in the network) and various resistive elements.Responsibilities+ Multilayer Ceramics Capacitors (MLC). Measured parameters various MLC's. Parameters included Capacitance, Dissipation Factor (DF), Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR), and parasitics. A wide array of instruments and setups were used in the measurements such as Capacitance and DF meter stations, and Boonton tube setups for ESR.
