The Center on Equity Research (CER) integrates inclusive and equitable research and research practices across NORC. In addition, CER conducts its own research, initiatives, and experiments while collaborating with NORC’s chief diversity officer and the Office of Diversity, Racial Equity, and Inclusion.

Participatory Budgeting Chicago is an innovative initiative that lets community residents decide how to spend millions of tax dollars. Through PB, neighborhood residents directly decide the allocation of discretionary capital funds in their ward . Residents are responsible for proposing spending ideas, developing project proposals, and ultimately voting on projects. The list of projects that receive the most votes is then submitted to the Alderman and the City for implementation.Together with Rachel Weber and Thea Crum, I served on the UIC Research Team responsible for survey questionnaire design, survey mode, survey administration, focus group interviews, data collection/cleaning, post formatting, and final analyses. We co-authored and published three summary reports and one academic article investigating the Participatory Budgeting process in Chicago.

The Immigration Impact project seeks to gather accurate and reliable information about the impact of immigrants across 250 of the largest U.S. metro areas, and seeks to make this data "user-friendly" by presenting it in an easily accessible, customized, format. The Immigration Impact project will allow the production of "instant analyses" by citizens, journalists, policymakers, researchers, or anyone else interested in issues of U.S. immigration.I provided statistical analyses and generated policy reports for PNAE's Immigration Impact project. I provided consultation on questionnaire edits and survey research methods as needed. I authored tailored reports for city governments (Anchorage, Birmingham, Detroit, Los Angeles, and New Orleans) using large-scale national data sets such as the American Community Survey, the Current Population Survey, and US Census data.

The Survey of Doctorate Recipients (SDR) is a survey of individuals who received a doctoral degree in science, engineering, or health (SEH) from an academic institution in the United States. This study is the only source of data on the education and training, work experience, and career development of this highly educated population. The results of the SDR are used by government agencies and academia to make planning decisions regarding education. It is also used by employers to understand and predict employment, industry, and salary trends.
