In the Attic is an alt/indie/art rock trio that I formed together with bandmates Tatiana Smirnova (singer) and Christopher Charlesworth (drummer). All of us being students at an international school we formed a band that featured Slovene, Russian and Australian nationalities. We started of with local youth band competitions and after positive feedback we went to the studio to record our full length debut studio album Jimmy's which got us a review on the biggest alternative radio in Slovenia Radio Študent, as well as got some of our songs put on rotation on the national radio Val202. After Jimmy's we've worked to break out of the youth band mould and started setting up our own shows connecting with bands and industry actors of the local scene. We've worked on new material and released a sophomore effort EP titled New Fears. The new EP although with hindered presentation due to the pandemic garnered a lot of opportunities for us in the music industry. We've made connections with many active promoters of the local alternative music scene and as a result received many opportunities to showcase ourselves, many of which were sadly cancelled due to Covid-19. However we were still able to record live sessions with the Slovene organisation Excenter and perform at Domorodnih 10 a local showcase festival. The summer passed quite quickly and we already started fleshing out a new song that would become our newest single. In autumn we worked long distance with our long time producer and mentor Tomaž O'Rous to finish and polish the new song. At the same time we got accepted into the INES Talent program (Innovative Network of European Showcases), opening many more doors, especially exporting our music and performance across Europe. My friend and bandmate Christopher Charlesworth started a concert series at the local craft brewery, which is his family business and I've taken on the role of live sound to help out with the execution of the events.
