I am a second-year student studying Mathematics (BSc) at the University of Sussex. I harbour a real interest in the development of software and the software industry. During my time working at Starbucks and Specsavers, I spent a lot of time relying the software on the handheld machines to make sure extremely immediate deadlines were met on time. Such software and operating systems have adapted in recent times in ways that weren't anticipated. With the presence of COVID-19, the technology has to replace a lot of the human interaction that would have happened on a day-to-day basis, interaction that would have been very present in the jobs I listed above. The use of these technologies will only increase as time goes on, putting a great emphasis on ensuring that the software is capable of keeping up with the demands of modern life.With my studies, and the addition of extracurriculars in relation to such studies, I believe that I will have the specific software programming skills, and fundamental teamworking and problem-solving skills to deliver the real, practical, and fresh solutions needed succeed in this profession.
