A Senior Estimator prepares cost estimates for products and services to aid management in bidding or to determine the price of a product or service. Accuracy and attention to detail are of the utmost importance to ensure that products are priced correctly to turn an appropriate profit.Duties• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.• Breakout of complete vehicle bill of materials.• Costing of all Bill of Materials and continuous updates.• Costing of products and services sold by Paramount Combat Systems and continuous updates.• Prepare quotes for business development based on cost estimates.• Costing of ad hoc projects or quotes.• Weekly reporting on stock holding per project.• Monthly stock and Work In Progress valuation, issuing stock to projects and stock adjustments.• Material Review Board – Review of items and adding value to write offs, obsolescence, and slow- moving stock.• Non Conformance Report – Review, cost and reporting of NCR’s before finance processes.• Report monthly on Engineering Change Proposals, reworks and scrapped items dependent on ordering.• Ensure stores comply with stock taking procedure and that reconciliations and processing is authorized by finance.• Review of commercial agreements where applicable.• Prepare escalation formulas for products based on foreign content and supplier cost breakouts.• Supply relevant costing information to project managers and controllers.• Conduct regular time in motion studies to ensure appropriate labour rates.• Provide input into development of Financial strategy.

Explanation of costing role: In charge of compiling a product list that was circulated on a 6-month basis. This list consisted of more than 5000 items that had to be costed and updated with new items every 6 months. I had to compile the contract letter that was sent to all the suppliers requesting prices valid for 6 months as well as their cost breakdown structure for price escalation purposes.Duties• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.• Breakout of complete vehicle bill of materials (BOM).• Costing of all BOM’s and continuous updates.• Costing of products and services sold by DCD and continuous updates.• Prepare quotes for business development based on cost estimates.• Costing of ad hoc projects or quotes.• Compile tender documents.• Review of commercial agreements where applicable.• Prepare escalation formulas for products based on foreign content and supplier cost breakouts.• Supply relevant costing information to project managers and controllers.• Conduct regular time in motion studies to ensure appropriate labor rates.• Provide input into development of Financial strategy.• Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) costing and impact analysis.• Annual update of the price lists for Defense customers and regular update of these records to indicate success achieved.
