While simultaneously wearing the hats of both Cloud and DevOps Engineer, I'm obsessed with enabling agility via automation utilizing CICD pipelines to provision resources in Azure and deploy in-house code. Helping with BHG's cloud adoption journey to Azure by automating provisioning of resources using Terraform and working with developers to deploy their code through CICD pipelines. PowerShell continues to play a major role for overall heavy lifting.

I worked side-by-side with developers from various teams to help manage code releases using existing tools such as Azure DevOps, Team City, and Octopus Deploy to build and deploy software to on-premises and Azure resources through CI/CD pipelines. As someone who enthusiastically likes sharing knowledge, I developed documentation along with the occasional training video to provide an introduction covering technology options. Always on the lookout for opportunities to increase efficiency, I regularly generated PowerShell scripts for automating various tasks and generating reports. Monitored the health and availability of Azure services and worked with stakeholders to enforce governance and minimize cloud spend.Significant milestone accomplishments achieved during my time at BMI include having designed secure Azure storage account access, defining the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment model using Azure DevOps pipelines and Terraform to create/manage Azure resources, creating custom dashboards in Azure to report on SQL database inventory and replica counts for auditing and governance, and incorporating automated disaster recovery of BMI’s internally developed time keeping and project tracking service in Azure.

Focused on remediation efforts for the company’s globally distributed Active Directory environments based on Microsoft’s health service reporting. Supported 4 Active Directory forests with 45,000 users, 7200 servers and 20,000 workstations. Generated process and architecture documentation. Developed PowerShell scripts for automating administrative tasks and generating reports. On the Azure side, managed the Azure AD Connect identity synchronization servers, general Office 365 administration for users and groups, privileged identity (PIM) and access reviews in Azure Active Directory.Key Projects• Implemented Azure Site Recovery (ASR) for on-premises Confluence collaboration solution.• Implemented Azure AD Connect Health to monitor on-premises domain controller estate and server running Azure AD Connect synchronization service.• Developed plan for deploying domain controllers in Azure (IaaS).• Developed and successfully deployed swing migration plan to update the production Azure AD Connect synchronization server to a newer version.• Migrated on-premises infrastructure toolbox server to Azure as part of a POC project.• Worked on cost analysis for moving on-premises application to Azure.• Completed Windows Server 2003 domain controller retirement.• Developed upgrade plan with supporting process documentation for the migration of production Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory to Windows Server 2016.• Managed PCI compliance TLS 1.0 remediation effort for all domain controllers.

Responsible for security, engineering, support, and setting the technical direction of WG and WGM’s globally distributed Active Directory forests consisting of 130 domain controllers running Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 R2 Core, 3000 servers, 60000 users and 26830 workstations running Windows 7 and 8.1. Plan, organize, design, document, and maintain the Active Directory infrastructure. Continually review, make recommendations and implement improvements to the Active Directory infrastructure. Collaborate with various technology teams to provide architectural/technical guidance for Active Directory to ensure seamless integration with all components including networking, security, messaging, remote access, and workstation/server imaging and deployment. Make sure that all designs and resulting implementations meet requirements of the business and align with prescribed industry best practices. Design and implement group policy strategies based on business requirements. Generate process and project plan documentation. Manage Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 for GAL synch details between WG and WGM forests.Key projects include:• Designed and implemented Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) 3.0 to provide SSO access.• Redesign and cleaning up the current Active Directory architecture to optimize the environment.• Removed WINS name resolution from the network Q42014.• Designed migration and domain collapse processes for business acquisitions using ADMT. Work as technology lead on migration teams and provide top tier support.• Architected Active Directory upgrade plans along with supporting process documentation for migration of WGM’s production 2008 R2 AD to 2012 R2.• Worked as technology lead on resulting migration effort of the production Active Directory infrastructure to Server 2012 R2 and provided top tier support during that time.• Worked with cross-technology teams to successfully deploy a dedicated, out-of-band lab for testing purposes.

Managed & maintained 3 geographically distributed Active Directory forests running Server 2003 and 2008 R2. Provided top tier support for various issues ranging from Active Directory services to infrastructure integrity to security. Architected the infrastructure upgrade plan along with supporting process documentation for the migration of the main production Server 2003 Active Directory to Windows 2008 R2. Implemented and managed the resulting migration of the main production Active Directory infrastructure to Server 2008 R2 and provided top tier support during that time. Generated migration plan for moving PKI services from Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2 platform and successfully implemented migration. Collaborated on numerous high-level projects with colleagues from other departments when called upon. Generated technical process documentation as needed for use by team colleagues and management. Initiated review process for removing WINS name resolution services from the company network and successfully implemented phased elimination procedure. Generated Active Directory design documents for various business units requiring isolation from the main production environment and spearheaded implementation of those designs. Completed a domain consolidation for an acquisition utilizing ADMT tool and subsequently collapsed the source forest upon completion. Implemented, managed, and maintained Hyper-V failover cluster running on Server 2008 R2 Core host servers for testing and evaluating virtual server workloads.

Designed the NT4 to Server 2003 Active Directory migration plan and successfully spearheaded the implementation process. Trained staff in daily computer system operations. Numerous daily tasks included managing infrastructure servers and Active Directory, building user workstations, administering data backups, providing email support, assisting remote office users with various issues, managing the Cisco PIX 506E firewall, Microsoft WSUS server (patches and updates) and Trend AV.

Contract Position - AvanadeManaged & maintained Windows the Server 2003 Active Directory forest spread across 30 remote branch office locations in the US & Canada. Provided 2nd level support for Citrix Metaframe server farm. Infrastructure support included various services such as Right Fax server, Trend Antivirus, basic Exchange email management, and remote site data replication. Managed overseas human resources (after hours NT support & data backup services).

Contract position - SchlumbergerManaged, supported, & maintained the US division of the Windows 2000 Server Active Directory Enterprise forest that spanned several geographical locations. Provided 2nd level support for AD and email.

Implemented NT4 to Windows 2000 AD migration, provided level 2 support for all facets of IT for company. Managed and maintained the firewall and Lotus Notes email system. Technoguide Petrel was bought by Schlumberger April 2003.

Managed, supported, & maintained the US-portion of the Windows 2000 Active Directory forest that spanned several world-wide locations. Provided top tier support for issues pertaining to US division of the Active Directory environment. Deployed group policy infrastructure for implementing roaming user profiles, data folder redirection, and software installation. Helped to implement Windows Remote Installation Services solution for automating workstation OS installations en masse.

Contract position - Poseidon ResourcesProvided tier 2 support for over 1000 users in company WAN running Windows NT4 and 2000, managed Windows 2000 Active Directory user accounts in the forest, and monitored Cisco routers.
