Ed Blake joined DRiWaterstone Human Capital as a Senior Consultant in August 2024, bringing his expertise in enhancing team performance, fostering loyalty, fundraising and cultivating collaborative alliances with internal and external stakeholders to DRiWaterstone clients.An advocate for safe and affordable housing, Ed was introduced to Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity in 2001, and has been involved in the organization first as a volunteer providing real estate consulting for acquisition of land, and then on the Board of Directors; he became the Board President in 2009 and CEO in 2011. In this role, Ed expanded the building program and instituted a new program in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity International called the Critical Home Repair Program (CHiRP) which responds to the local community aspirations with an expanded array of services designed to revive declining neighborhoods. The organization experienced 5x growth during his time as CEO.Prior to taking on the CEO role at Habitat for Humanity, Ed was the owner and founder of three real estate companies, and he spent 19 years as an Executive Vice President at Marketing Specialists, a a $28 billion national company where he oversaw 400 employees in western states while achieving consumer package sales targets for many Fortune 500 companies across the country.Outside of work, Ed is an international award-winning artist and a published author.

Building Houses, Building HopeHabitat for Humanity provides affordable home ownership opportunities for families making 30-60% of the average median income. This is not a handout, it is a hand up! Participating families spend one to two years investing 225 hours of sweat equity working with more than 15,000 Utah volunteers who believe in our vital mission. The program also includes an extensive curriculum which includes financial education. Upon completion of the program, an affordable home is dedicated to them and they agree to pay a 30 year no interest mortgage that repays the cost of building their home. Their repayment ensures a home for someone else.Neighborhood Revitalization:Two years ago SLV Habitat for Humanity expanded our scope of service to include a program called Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI) which focuses on eliminating sub-standard housing in Salt Lake County. Many of these projects involve poverty housing conditions that threaten the health and safety of families. Through partnerships with Salt Lake County (HOME Funds) and local corporations and foundations, Habitat for Humanity has provided far-reaching community solutions for Salt Lake County families:• 424 People are now living in a safer housing environment.• 163 are children, many health issues are related to poor housing conditions.• 63 are senior citizens on fixed incomes who are unable to make repairs themselves.• 18 are disabled.• 11 are veteransThe ReStoreOur home improvement thrift store serves 76,300 customers annually with recycles, repurposed and new materials for your home. The store is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday. Over 681 tons of refuse is re-routed each year from the landfill to the ReStore to provide low-cost home improvement items to low income families. The community supports this program through generous donations, either dropping them off at the store or through the 15,600 donation pick-ups we do annually.
