Managed a staff of six for this $ 2 Billion supplier primarily of seats and doors to Toyota Motor Manufacturing, General Motors and other OEM automobile companies• Led a team that improved a Mexican Subsidiary’s Import Value Added Tax (IVA), Export Value Added (EVA), and customs compliance, significantly reducing potential penalties and interest costs;Led a cross-functional team that successfully inventoried and tagged (via bar codes) machinery and equipment at ten manufacturing plants in North America, thereby reducing property taxes;• Favorably negotiated two federal income tax audits resulting in no changes by the IRS;• Assumed leadership of internal audit, corporate insurance and US census reporting functions, while continuing leadership of the corporate tax function.

Managed the Cincinnati office (25 associates) of this property tax consulting firm leading the firm’s cost segregation, audits and appeals, and personal property tax practices for both Fortune 100 and smaller clients;• Produced Sarbanes-Oxley (SAS 70) compliant program involving accounting for fixed assets for a major chemical manufacturing client.

Initiated tax planning projects which saved this $1.5 Billion chemical manufacturer $8-10 Million annually.• Shifted profits from high tax to low tax jurisdictions using cross border transfer pricing judged to be at arm’s length by taxing authorities• Successfully handled sales and use tax audits in multiple jurisdictions.

Managed a ten person staff handling all US taxation for this UK owned sugar and sweetener manufacturer with US sales of $2.8 Billion and initiated tax savings projects that saved the company over $15 Million annually•Negotiated settlement with IRS of capitalization issue stemming from OSHA mandated adjustments which allowed company to currently deduct 65% of expenditures.

Directed a four person tax department at this manufacturer of lawn and garden products, which grew in size from $700 Million to $1.5 Billion in sales, initiating tax savings projects that saved the company $2.5 Million, annually

Assumed increasing responsibility for this (then) $7 Billion manufacturer of computers, office equipment and bank processing equipment prior to the acquisition of the company by AT&T, managing a staff of forty-three (43) at its peak.
