Developed a Unified Modeling Language (UML) profile for the SAE AADL.• Consulted and mentored application developers on the use of object–oriented methods and languages for military and commercial communication satellite systems at TRW (now part of Northrop Grumman); call–center management software for Information Management Associates; weapon systems at Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, Texas Instruments, U.S. armed forces; credit card accounting system at Pacific Bell (through Peat Marwick), semiconductor manufacturing for the Semiconductor Manufacturing Association (SEMATECH); weather analysis and global decision support systems for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).• Consulted on the Patriot Missile upgrade to Ada for U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command. Credited by Raytheon for substantially simplifying the upgrade by determining how new features of the proposed Ada ’95 standard could be used to preserve a battle–tested concurrency model.

• Developed course material for and taught system engineering and system–engineering management since 2010, software architecture since 2003, UML since 1995, object–oriented analysis and design methods since 1986, 50 projects for 35 clients.• Developed course material for and taught 150 public and private Ada courses since 1986 and 20 private C++ courses since 1995.• Developed methods and processes for software engineering, including the Colbert Object–Oriented Software Development Method, which was used by NASA Langley Research Center for a Software Engineering Process Guide (http://sw-eng.larc.nasa.gov/Guidebook/), and used by 30 other projects, all successfully delivered.• Developed Java course material for Aonix Corporation and taught Ada and Java classes to Aonix customers.• Advised developers of CASE tools Software Through Pictures at Aonix, ObjectMaker at Mark V Systems, and DoME at Honeywell on the application of object-oriented methods and UML, and how application developers use CASE tools.• Developed project–specific process guidelines based on industry standards for TRW (now part of Northrup Grumman), Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control, and SEMATECH.• Wrote user manuals for object–oriented development tools, and a Rate Monotonic Analysis tool.• Developed applications for collaborative software and system development.

The certificate program was revised at the end of its first year for budgetary reasons; this position was eliminated.

Performed security engineering for Inter-Service Agency Automated Message Processing Exchange. Principal Investigator on Ada-based Program Design Language Internal Research & Development (IR&D). Wrote requirements and design for the Ada Language Sys¬tem Extensions (ALSE), formal specifications of the Multilevel Secure ASOS Kernel for the Army Secure Operating System (ASOS) project.
