• Undertaking environmental monitoring in the field - gas, ground and surface waters, air quality, soil and contaminated land through out the South West• Specialist environmental monitoring including Low flow ground water techniques, Odour sampling, Pass100 compost sampling, ABPR sampling and ambient Bioaerosol sampling.• Occupational health monitoring including OCC BioA personnel and OCC Dust Personnel. • The accurate management and reporting of environmental data on both paper and database systems.• Assistance in the preparation of environmental reports, feedback and/or client liaison to clients and other interested parties.• Undertaking of routine checks and maintenance of environmental control systems• Equipment calibration and maintenance including potable multi-gas analysers, photoionization detector (PID), Flame ionization detector (FID) and Peristaltic pumps• New staff training and supervision.

• Collection of scientific data for land based environmental research• Work on the following projects: Soil compaction surveys: both on farmland and riparian buffers; stream water sampling; monitoring of infiltration rates; gas sampling; training farmers in the process of soil sampling; Catchment source sampling and automatic water sampler (collection and maintenance). • Projects worked on and completed throughout the South West and beyond• Liaison with farmers, land owners and various colleagues throughout the country. Skills Acquired• Efficient time management and organisational skills • Accurate use of scientific equipment: Penetrometer, shear vane, Isco water samplers, flow meters, Toughbook and specialist software.
