I worked on policy issues in the devolved nations, whilst assisting with consultation responses and AIHO key principles documents.

I identified a priori risk factors that appeared to increase the probability of doctors working in the UK committing 'medical misconduct'. I completed a three phase mapping review of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) trial transcripts, between February 2016 and January 2017. This methodology allowed me to identify potential a priori risk factors and synthesise a typology of risk. Four a priori risk factors were identified, they were: being male, undertaking primary medical qualification (PMQ) outside of the UK, working within General Practice and Surgical specialities and having passed PMQ more than 20 years ago. Being found guilty of medical misconduct was strongly associated with being male. These findings are applicable for researchers, educators and policymakers, enabling a more effective debate on public safety and improving education.
