Edward Clemente is a seasoned professional in the realms of public policy, government advocacy, and strategic development. Currently serving as the Senior Advisor for Trends and Development at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Ed hosts the “The Michigan Opportunity Podcast” 200+ guests: ranging from University Presidents, all levels of businesses, Economic experts, authors, technologists, public sector leaders, NGO leaders, Foundations, International, etc… Prior to his role at MEDC, Ed held a two-term appointment as a Michigan Liquor Control Commissioner, overseeing matters related to the Spirits, Wine, and Beer industry, with a primary focus on judicial enforcement.Ed's career also encompasses a tenure as a State Representative. His legislative efforts ranged from spearheading task forces on electric vehicles, or chairing a standing committee on Bio-Sciences, Brownfield’s, Historic tax credits, economic development, quality of life, & Advanced Energy. Notably, he was chosen as a diplomatic US State Legislator for a cross-border governmental exchange by the Canadian Government Consulate.Dedicated to advancing the cause of Advanced Energy, Ed co-founded and served as President of the (Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council). Additionally, he has held the esteemed positions of Community College Trustee and President of a Chamber of Commerce.Ed's commitment to continuous learning led him to receive fellowships from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and The National Judicial College for Administrative Law. He is a graduate of Leadership Detroit and the Michigan Political Leadership Program, and remains actively engaged in Leadership 21. Ed's remarkable achievements were recognized by Crain's Detroit, which honored him in their prestigious "40 under 40" list.An accomplished educator, Ed has shared his wealth of knowledge with students at Northwood University. He currently hosts a podcast for Wayne County Community College. Beyond the boardroom, Ed is an avid sports enthusiast, having played college football and international amateur & university rugby. Ed has been to 100+ countries/territories and 150+ UNESCO sites across six continents.
