British national with New Zealand permanent residency. I am a certified marine engineer with an extensive history working in the cruise industry and the tug sector. My experience ranges from direct drive propulsion with both 2 stroke and 4 stroke main engines, diesel electric propulsion with azipods and propulsion motors to a wide range of auxiliary systems and associated maintenance.Currently employed at South Port in New Zealand, where I am part of the marine department, acting as an engineer on their two Voith Schneider propelled tug boats (Te Matua and Hauroko) and their Damen ATD 2412 Azimuth tug (Rakiwai).My seafaring certificates are fully up to date with STCW95 and STCW10 (Manila amendments), an unrestricted Maritime New Zealand medical, and additional certification in both crowd and crisis management and basic tanker endorsements for oil, chemical and gas cargoes to name a few. I graduated with a Second Class Upper (2:1) Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Marine Engineering and Management from Southampton Solent University in July 2017, and a HND in Marine Engineering from South Tyneside Marine College in 2014. I hold a Class 1 Chief Engineer (Unlimited) certificate of competency from the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency, along with a Maritime New Zealand MEC1.
