As a member of the Centre of Operational Guidance for Animal Health - disease control, biosecurity and feed; as part of efforts to modernize the way it develops and delivers food safety, animal health and plant health programs.Responsible for the poultry hatchery program and disposal of animal carcasses, products and by-products:•interpreting and clarifying program requirements for our inspectors•providing operational guidance to the field•contributing expertise to program design and development teams•triggering and coordinating requests for new program interpretations.

Co-lead of the FPT Disposal Discussion Group with the purpose:1.To improve preparedness throughout Canada by developing acceptable and collaborative procedures for the disposal of animal carcasses, products and by-products for disease control and other situations as they may arise;2.To work as a cooperative F/P/T body to share experiences, knowledge, documentation, expertise, project information and ideas so as to prevent duplication of efforts and to maximize collaboration;3.To identify existing disposal expertise and equipment, information, procedural documentations and experienced and trained individuals. 4. To support the LMIS stategy for disposal. The Livestock Market Interruption Strategy (LMIS) is a strategy to enhance industry and governments preparedness in a livestock market interruption including the mandate that is for a National framework of scalable set of policy and program solutions, and template for provinces and territories to use in the development of their individual action plans to operationalize their response.Emergency prepardness planning and preperation for the disposal of animal carcasses and by-products for foreign animal disease outbreak.SME to the National Animal Health Disposal Working Group for the development of procedural documents for the various methods (burial, composting, rendering, transportation, and other) of disposal of animal carcasses and by-products.To liaise with staff from other governments, researchers, provincial staff, and industry as to the managment of issues with carcass disposal, to learn from past outbreaks, and to develop plans for emergency prepardness.
