Edward Ring is the director of energy and water policy for the California Policy Center, which he co-founded in 2013 and served as its first president. His weekly newsletter, "What's Current, California's Energy Future" is a valuable resource for business leaders, journalists, activists, and elected officials. He is also a senior fellow with the Center for American Greatness, and writes a weekly column for the California Globe. He is the author of five books, including "Fixing California" (2021), "The Abundance Choice - Our Fight for More Water in California" (2022), and "Solutions - Innovative Public Policy for California" (2024).Between August 2021 and February 2022, Ring was the chairman of the More Water Now campaign, which attempted to qualify a California state ballot initiative to fund water supply infrastructure and streamline the environmental approval process.In 2000 Ring founded the online environmental magazine EcoWorld, which he published for nine years. Up until sale in 2009, EcoWorld was a respected international voice promoting free-market environmentalism, something that is needed now more than ever. From 2007 through 2010, in partnership with AlwaysOn Media, Ring designed and directed five “GoingGreen” conferences held in San Francisco and Boston, showcasing emerging clean technology startups and thought leaders, and drawing clean technology entrepreneurs and investors from around the world.Ring was CFO for Play Industries in 1999-2000, the first company to develop and commercialize a desktop platform for digital video production and internet video broadcasting. In 2003, Ring was Director of Strategic Planning for Anuvu, one of the first companies to build a prototype fuel cell vehicle.Ring is a prolific writer on the topics of political reform and sustainable economic development. His work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, San Jose Mercury, Wall Street Journal, Orange County Register, Real Clear Politics, National Review, City Journal, The American Mind, American Greatness, California Globe, Cal Matters, and other media outlets. Ring has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from UC Davis, and an MBA in Finance from the USC.
