I’m a technical group leader with the Accelerator Science and Technology Centre (ASTeC). My group of scientists and engineers develop advanced laser, optical and optoelectronic technology for particle accelerator facilities. Our work helps researchers access the ultrafast regime - a timescale where we you can fundamentally resolve the motion of atoms and electrons in matter.My team has helped design and build the laser and timing systems for the CLARA and RUEDI facilities at STFC Daresbury Laboratory. I’m also proud to be part of the leadership team for UK XFEL - a proposal to build a Next Generation X-ray Free Electron Laser (XFEL) for the UK.
