As the sole member of IT, I did everything from linux system administration of both production and development systems, to networking, and to basic help desk and support for the rest of the company. What I've done covers also networking, MySQL database administration and scripting. I was/am also the sole on-call person, 24x7x365 for the entire production environment, and the website with 4 million unique visitors per month.

 Installed, configured, and maintained Linux servers, primarily with CentOS Configured/Installed Apache/DNS/Tomcat/Weblogic/MySQL/ActiveBatch Primary Sysadmin for MySQL, including installation, configuration, backups, replication, repair, troubleshooting. Primary Sysadmin for Java App servers, particularly the installation and configuration of Weblogic. Primary Sysadmin for Apache setups. Primary Sysadmin for initial config and maintaining NetAPP SAN.  Ran clean and organized upgrades to production software which had the potential to affect large customers (Sprint, Bellmobility, 3UK) and hundreds of thousands of end users. Used Perl and Bash to automate many tasks which were previously manual and time-consuming.  24/7/365 On-Call support via pager and phone. Rebuilt and configured Nagios. Consistently supported the engineers in their tasks, day, night, or weekends.

This was a short-term contract. Build, repair, and configure laptops and desktops with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Redhat Linux, and Solaris. Locally support issues with printers and computers. Troubleshoot hardware and software problems as they arise in a timely manner.

The Computer Merchant was the 3rd party support provider that I worked for at Nortel, above.

In this position, I served as the sole member of the IT department. I performed all duties with regards to the computer and network infrastructure, website development (internal and external), and acted as the entire Help Desk, assisting all 20 other employees with their day to day computer difficulties. Some of my activities were:  Building, configuring, and maintaining several servers for the website, email, DHCP, DNS, file-serving, backups, and the ACT! Customer database. These servers consisted of Linux (SUSE, Redhat, Slackware), Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, and Windows 2003 Server. Developed and maintained numerous tools for use by Sales, Marketing, Software Development, and Tech Support, using mostly PHP, Perl, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Bash scripting on Linux systerms. Development of the sales-geared company website, both graphically and through back-end coding. Establishing and maintaining cat6 ethernet network throughout the office. Developed a backup solution for every workstation and server using Dantz Retrospect software. Remained available and approachable for all employees with questions, trouble, or new projects. Completed all projects long before expectation, consistently. My ability to multi-task enabled me to quickly insert and finish shorter projects while in the midst of longer developments. Learned new technologies and applied them on the fly. When asked to do something I wasn’t yet experienced in, I quickly learned what I needed to know and then still finished the project before deadline.As the sole member of the IT department for Lambda Research, I cannot possibly list every task and technology that I performed and learned. However, I proved during my time with Lambda Research that I am not limited by my prior experience.

Performed technical networking support for all of the major operating systems through phone and email.Supervised and tutored junior employees.As the Webmaster and Hostmaster, I performed many system administration duties on several servers (Dec Alpha, Solaris, FreeBSD, and Slackware Linux) such as setting up user accounts, mail forwardings and aliases, DNS adds and changes, and configuration of Apache.Performed troubleshooting for customer Perl-based CGI scripts and HTML issues.
