I currently work as a Small Projects Manager, managing up to 12 projects at a time within the water treatment industry. Honestly, I do not enjoy my current role as management and office-based work does not match my skillset or aspirations. I left my previous role at the NHS, repairing and servicing medical equipment because the opportunity to try a management role with my previous employer had become available. They suggested I might be a suitable candidate given my experience, having never been in a management role I decided to take the position as I knew the experience would fill a gap in my current skillset. I have learnt a great deal about organising multiple teams of engineers and ensuring a constant line of communication with suppliers and customers, to ensure work schedules are maintained for all parties involved can maximise their productivity. As much as I enjoy to meticulousness and planning necessary to carry out these projects, I find the inconsistency and unpredictability of the work doesn’t suit my temperament. Therefore, I am seeking to find a new role in a similar field to that of Clinical Engineering, a role that is scientific, meticulous, requires consistent dedication and the ability to learn/develop as the industry innovates.
