This development is supported by continuous integration (Gradle/Maven/Jenkins) and Test Driven Development. The development features for mobile application used for chronic illness management used asynchronous (secure) web service calls, Content Providers design architecture (using SQLite databases), Optical Character Recognition (OCR) using the Tesseract Android native OCR library(C++), “on device” voice recognition using the Voce native library (C++) for disconnected voice recognition services and long running background services that handle data syncing (secure), voice command execution, GPS logging and other Inter Process Communications (IPC). AES-256 encryption is used for securing Personal Health Information (PHI) on the device as well as for data syncing using REST services including Windows Azure Services (ACS).Results/Benefit: A new product newly re-named product called “The Fit Diabetic” (Fit-db) that provides unusual functionality and a rich feature set such as “on device” voice recognition, optical character recognition for visually interpreting medical prescription labels and GPS/ Standard pedometers all used to help manage chronic illnesses just to name a few.

Data Base ArchitectWisconsin State Governments Dec 2001 - Apr 2003I converted an application that used approximately 68 tables in MS Access to SQL Server and Visual Basic as the new front end for the application. Data design was accomplished through the use of Visio data design and SQL Server data conversion tools. I created stored procedures in SQL Server to accomplish data distribution throughout the new system. Results/Benefit: This new system (as well as the attending process changes) allowed more efficient use and distribution of the data used in this application. The new process is projected to cut the workload in half for the entire organization of 375 individuals and represents a substantial long term savings to the organization.

Software Developer/ArchitectRockwell Automation Aug 1999 - Dec 2001Milwaukee, Wi, UsA $7.2 billion global electronic controls and communications company engaged in industrial automation, avionics and automated call distribution systems.; Crystal Reports Designer - I created Crystal Reports from Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) data retrieved from DB2 tables. These reports were to eventually be posted on the Web as Active Server Pages (ASP's).Results/Benefit: These reports provided valuable information about the progress of EDI implementation at RA and were used by top management to make decisions. EDI transactions represent $1.8 billion in revenue for the company.; I rewrote an application that uses Windows API calls to send keystrokes to and control PeopleSoft's SQA Robot. This application was created using VC and VB/6 and it runs on Win-NT workstations around the world. I also created new software production design requirements for Rockwell Software.Results/Benefit: Through the use of the software I created Rockwell Automation was able to gather crucial transaction information and create a base line for transaction performance. This performance information was used to analyze worldwide PeopleSoft transactions. Monitoring this metric information, which my application helped to collect, over time provided a significant dollar savings to the Rockwell Automation organization. -
Software DeveloperBriggs And Stratton Corporation Jun 1999 - Sep 2000A $1.59 billion company that designs, manufactures, markets and services air cooled gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment.; I created an inventory application that is now used at two of Briggs' foundries. This application handles approximately $7 to $10 million dollars worth of inventory at both locations. The application was created using MS Visual studio and VB/6 and VC. The data was transferred from an Oracle back end into a MS Access database using SQL.Results/Benefit: Because of the custom inventory application I created under an aggressively short schedule Briggs & Stratton was able to complete the sale of two foundries worth more than $100 million dollars on time. The sale of these companies without the completed inventory system would have caused the two new foundry entities to have to revert to an antiquated file card system to keep track of approximately $15-20 million dollars worth of foundry inventory.

Software Developer/Technical WriterManpower Inc. 1997 - 2000Milwaukee, Wisconsin, UsSoftware Developer I was the program manager for a project in which an application was developed for Manpower Technical offices around the country to post their job openings on the Web. This included xBase (Clipper) code development and MS Access data base development with Visual Basic. I also developed an application used to automatically configure all workstations corporate wide using Visual Basic 6.0 and Visual C/C++ programming languages.Results/Benefit: Because of the automated software installation and configuration system I wrote, the company was able to quadruple (4x) their new workstation output. This increase in workstation production (during a worldwide workstation roll out) provided a significant dollar savings to the corporation. My automated configuration solution also provided for significant savings during workstation installation by reducing original configuration errors that in the past had to be corrected by dispatching a technician for an expensive on site service call.Results/Benefit: Through the use of the documents I created the number of errors experienced during manual workstation construction was reduced by 45%. These documents also represented the framework for the automated workstation builds and configuration (See above). -
