$40,000 in 12 seconds. Over $3,000 each second. That’s some return!Winning the Stawell Gift was a goal of mine for my whole athletic career and after 13 years of commitment, resilience and determination, I finally had that winners sash in 2021. Although the race itself was only 12 seconds, there were countless hours of training both on and off the track, in addition to all the 1%ers that made the dream happen. The financial ROI then becomes less impressive considering, but I’ll always be a Stawell Gift winner and the pride that brings me and my family will never be outweighed.I’ve since retired from athletics (I think) and found my niche in Operations Management. Thanks to my discipline, ability and I suppose my Masters of Finance, I’ve been fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to run large scale financial advice remediation programs for the past 3 years and counting. What I’ve found is that sprinting well and running a good operation aren’t too dissimilar - at the core of it you need to be specific (specificity gets results), be organised (every step counts) and be a true leader (you are only as good as your team).Running a good operation is the cornerstone to any successful business, and I pride myself in being dedicated to delivering as much. I am known as the ‘go-to’ guy for anything and everything, and if somehow I don’t know, I’ll definitely know who does. I’ve developed the ability to channel my inner Rain man, meticulously scouring and storing every minor detail in emails, documents and reports to ensure I’m fully across as much as I can be at all times. I hold myself to extremely high standards and enjoy the challenge of working in highly ambiguous environments.Outside of work and athletics, I enjoy dabbling in graphic design, seeking the next big investment opportunity whether it be real estate, shares or cryptocurrency and being a dad to 2 fur babies Rusty and Ruby.Reach out if you’d like to connect or discuss athletics, operations or anything in between.
