I am an Employment and Education Specialist working in The IPS (Individual Placement Support) Service within CNTW NHS Foundation Trust.I am currently piloting a form of IPS that is new in the UK: IPS-Y, (Individual Placement Support Youth).IPS-Y supports young people into employment and provides in work support for the service user and employer, much in the same way as regular IPS. We work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and as such have close links with both employers and clinicians alike.Further information about IPS and how it works can be found at: https://ipsgrow.org.ukHow is IPS-Y different?The research conducted into the efficacy of IPS-Y shows that for young people, marked improvements in mental well-being can be achieved by applying the same research proven techniques and interventions to education settings.I currently support young people under the care of Newcastle and Gateshead At Risk Mental State Team (ARMS). I work closely with employers, schools, colleges, universities, alternative education providers and other institutions in Newcastle and Gateshead to find high quality, caring and supportive placements for my service users.Can I refer a young person to you?IPS services work inside clinical teams and as such only take referrals from their clinical team.
