Career AchievementsAs Chief Boiler Inspector for the State of Alabama, I amended the Boiler Rules which were approved by the legislature to include potable water heaters in schools and public buildings in the interest of public safety and required CO Detectors in all boiler rooms. The boiler inspections have improved from 10% overdue to less than 1% overdue for the last year. I have overseen the appointment of two new Boiler Board Members.As Chief Elevator Inspector for the State of Alabama, I amended the Elevator Rules which were approved by the legislature to restrict ASME A17.3 from imposing retroactive changes to existing elevators and escalators resulting in an estimated $500 million + of savings to the State and elevator owners. The inspection department has improved from 10% overdue to less than 1% overdue for the last year. I have overseen the appointment of five Elevator Safety Review Board Members.I developed and presented Power Point presentations on Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety and Elevator Safety to the Elevator Safety Review Board, the Alabama Boiler Board, and various groups in Alabama and other states. I have attended and presented at several functions of the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel inspectors prior to becoming Chief and I have many colleagues who are Chief Boiler Inspectors and Boiler Industry Leaders. I was the Account Engineer for the state of South Carolina while at Liberty Mutual. When I took over the responsibility, they were talking about leaving the company for their previous carrier, but I turned the program around into a successful account. I created several Boiler Training programs for this account and other accounts which I presented to multiple classes annually over several years. I have inspected Boilers and Pressure Vessels, held several State Commissions and conducted Risk Evaluations nationwide in AL, GA, MS, FL, TN, KY, AR, AK, CA, IL, IN, MI, ID, SD, WV, VA, NC, SC, NE, LA, HI, TX and OK.
