Ed started working in law enforcement in 1993 for the LAPD. In 1999, he joined the OC District Attorney's Office. Collateral duty- Ed was elected to his 4th term for the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs (Sheriff's Union).Ed was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2010 and became an active member of the Political Action Committee. Ed chair's the insurance benefits committee for their 2500+ members. Ed is part of the collective bargaining team during contract negotiations with the County. Being on the board for the past 7 years has allowed Ed to handle numerous labor disputes and internal investigation complaints. Ed is also a POST Certified Firearms Instructor and NRA Range Safety Officer. While at the DA Office, he worked at the Regional Gang Enforcement Team, Ed worked undercover for 3 years posing as a “Gang Leader” for the “Wah Ching” gang.Prior to joining the OCDA Office, Ed worked various assignments for the LAPD, including Special Problems Unit, CRASH, and the Asian Crime Investigation Section. He also participated in the murder investigation of Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner, Dr. Haing Ngor. Ed is also an adjunct professor with Santa Ana College. He is currently the primary instructor for the OC Probation Department and Elite Training & AssociatesHe is a recognized court expert in the field of Asian gangs. Ed was also featured on the History Channel “Gangland: A Killer’s Revenge” a segment about the “Asian Boyz” and “Wah Ching” gangs. In 2000, Ed was the recipient of the Medal of Valor Award from the CA Attorney General’s Office and CA Peace Officers Association for being inside a Wells Fargo bank during an armed robbery takeover .Ed is also the secretary for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 18 & President of the Asian Gang Investigator’s Association of California.Prior to joining the LAPD, Ed served as a US Marine for 6 years; he was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1995.
