I have a proven track record of going into digital agencies, (usually on short term contracts) and helping them get their digital department and dev team in order.I have a penchant for organisation, process and soild workflow. I work with dev teams to set best practises and workflow for every stage of a project; making the Dev department more efficient, more understandable and more profitable. I work with the rest of the digital department to educate them on current standards, best practises and how to get the most out of their dev team. I can do this because I am a solid full stack developer and can comfortably work as part of a team to deliver quality code, that stands the test of time, offers the client excellent ROI and helps the agency thrive.I spent over ten years of my career running my own business, and spent over seven working in digital agencies. These experiences are fundamental to everything i do. Allowing me to see the bigger picture, and giving me the ability to balance business needs with those of their internal team.

When I joined Whiteroom I was charged with heading up the development team. A team with very little process and a lot of technical debt. I introduced GIT for version control, Capistrano for automated deployment (bye bye FTP), multi stage development environments, reusable boilerplates, bug tracking (Jira), agile methodology, functional specifications, technical specifications, security best practices and strong, adaptable processes and protocols for each and every stage of a project. These processes and protocols allowed us to minimise human error, write better code, keep clients happy and ultimately have made substantial increases to the businesses profitability. Coding was part of my everyday duties. Although I spent a lot of my time planning projects, setting the foundation, before briefing and managing junior members of the team and our trusty bank of freelancers and contractors. I worked with clients at every level: being involved in initial meetings, writing functional and technical specs, overseeing the build of a project right through to launch and aftercare. This was all greatly aided by the aforementioned processes and protocol.

My development role at Bulb was front end and midstack. Writing HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. Working with Wordpress and ExpressionEngine.I oversaw the creation and maintainence of their own Wordpress Boilerplate and other systems which allowed for efficient, high quality coding. The time savings made allowed us to serve clients who might not usually be able to afford to work with such a prestigious agency.As part of my role I was involved in the training of Junior members of staff and managing the accounts of a selection of the business's micro clients.I worked closely with the studio manager to organise the output of the dev team and had an excellent working relationship with the companies directors....I also introduced cake Monday's.

People would give us designs and we would turn them into working websites and applications.Our studio was based on New Walk, Leicester. I started my first business straight out of school and over the years was involved in a selection of retail ventures in varying sectors. At its peak the company was turning over 12-15k a month, with substantial profit margins. I had it all and then lost it all very young. The experiences i gained have been fundamental to everything I have done since.
