As a construction manager with trade qualifications as a mechanical fitter, I am well grounded in the industrial sector both overseas and in Australia. Versatile and adaptable in the workplace, my background has afforded me the opportunity to gain skills in fixed plant fitting, plumbing, formwork, mobile plant operation and even jet engine mechanics. However, my real passion, team leadership, mentoring and project management, was ignited when I began my own construction company in 1994 and this has continued into my current role with the Wodonga Council as Team Leader - Roads Construction and Maintenance. Team performance management, skill gap analysis and team training as well as the development of a positive approach to maintaining team motivation are central to my success in the role of Team Leader and Mentor both as a business owner and in my current role with the Wodonga Council. Leadership FocusWith an egalitarian approach to leadership, I am focused on building positive relationships with contractors, providing them with the space and opportunity to develop their skills and the confidence to make their own decisions within the limitations of their role. I ensure I am available for my team to ask questions and to monitor the progress of their work.
