Edward F. Pierzak is the Senior Vice President of Research at Nareit, the worldwide representative voice for REITs and real estate companies with an interest in U.S. real estate.He was previously at San Diego State University, where he served as the Director of The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate and Assistant Professor of Finance. Prior to that, he held leadership roles in the institutional real estate investment management industry focused on portfolio management, strategy & research, data analytics, thought leadership, and client service.He is currently a member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF), the American Real Estate Society (ARES), and the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA). He also is an advisory board member and honorary fellow, as well as past president of the board of directors, of the Real Estate Research Institute (RERI).He received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, M.S. in Finance, and Ph.D. in Finance, all from the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign.Being a first-generation college graduate, he understands the importance and value of higher education; it can change the trajectory of one’s life. As a result, he is passionate about helping college students achieve their educational goals and career aspirations.
