I have more than thirty-five years of experience as an information technology professional and subject matter expert in the health and human services arena. As a senior executive, I've cultivated and managed complex relationships with alliance partners, led strategic initiatives involving the sale of intellectual property assets, assisted in the pursuit and closing of large software sales, led proposal efforts, produced numerous marketing documents and white papers, worked closely with boards and investors to guide the growth of startups, and shepherded a small company through two successive acquisitions. For fourteen years I ran Peter Martin Associates, a Chicago-based consulting and software development firm, guiding it from startup venture through to acquisition by a major corporation and a second acquisition by a UK firm.As a technologist, I've played a lead role in designing, developing, implementing and supporting a broad array of clinical and administrative systems, from departmental applications to enterprise case management solutions. I've co-written a proprietary rules engine and migrated applications across multiple platforms, from mainframe to mobile. I've directly managed complex systems integration work at the enterprise level and have served as project executive on several engagements. As a thought leader and trusted advisor, I've worked effectively with small community-based organizations, municipalities, large state agencies, charitable foundations and Fortune 500 corporations. Throughout my career I've consulted, written and lectured on the role of information systems in improving outcomes for individuals, families and organizations.In parallel with my work in the technology field, I am an award-winning writer of short stories and novels. My 2015 short story collection, NIGHT IN ERG CHEBBI AND OTHER STORIES, was the winner of the Iowa Short Fiction Award and the Colorado Book Award.
